Message from the Commissioner & League Office; February, 15th, 2013

Please read the following message from the Commish and League Office concerning the Girl Scouts vs Brick Squad Game played on February 5th.

Disappointed with the decision passed down by the league office, the Brick Squad appeal the decision, via the Players Union, to the Student Life Supreme Court. The following decision was made.

The SLSC ruled, although the Brick Squad did in fact break league rules & policy, the punishment exceeded the offense. Therefore, the court determined the appropriate action would to not count the game. All wins, losses, and other statistics were stricken from the record.

Message from the Commissioner & League Office; February, 7th, 2013

Please read the following message from the Commish and League Office concerning games played on February 5th.

Girl Scouts vs. Brick Squad: Official Appeal of Results

An official appeal was made to the AAIBLAA league office on behalf of the Girl Scouts, regarding eligibility of teams members of Brick Squad. The League Office, in conjunction with the Players Union, looked into the claim the Brick Squad played the game with players in violation of the eligibility policy (See December 4th posting).

As with any appeal, the League Office investigated the claim. Officials cross-checked original rosters, updated rosters, varsity sports rosters to see if any player who engaged in the contest was indeed ineligible. Furthermore, League Officials conducted interviews with game officials, score keepers, reviewed countless hours of video footage.

Finally, the league felt it had sufficient evidence to uphold the Girl Scouts appeal, as it was discovered Brick Squad did play the game with an ineligible player, thus violating league policy. In accordance with official rules & regulations, the league had no choice but to declare the Girl Scouts the winner and Brick Squad losers. The Brick Squad win was vacated. Point Differential was determined as if the game was forfeited (refer to Article 4, Section 37, Clause 1b).

The AAIBLAA takes fair play and practices very seriously, and is disappointed in the tactics used by the Brick Squad. Another violation will result in the team's dismissal. Hopefully, this will serve as an example to other teams.

Message from the Commissioner & League Office; February, 4th, 2013

Please read the following message from the Commish and League Office concerning games played on January 31st.

    Forfeited Games

Teams have asked the League Office what happens to the games which are forfeited. Please see the excerpt from the AAIBLAA official rules:

Article 4: Games; Section 37: Forfeited Games

Clause 1: In the event of a forfeit, where no substitute team is found, and therefore no official game is played, a win will be awarded to the team who was prepared to play. The unprepared team will be awarded a loss.

Clause 1b: Point Differential will be determine by the average number of points both teams have scored and allowed, and the point differential category adjusted accordingly.

Clause 2: In the event of a forfeit, where a substitute team is found, and therefore an official game is played; wins, losses, etc. will be awarded as in a traditionally scheduled game.

Clause 2b: The forfeited team will be awarded a loss, and point differential category adjusted according to the average of points scored and allowed.

Clause 2c: A win, to account for the forfeited loss, thus maintaining balance in the schedule, will be awarded to the current 1st place team, in recognition and respect of their utter dominance to date. Point differential category will be adjusted as previously stated in Clause 1b.

Message from the Commissioner; December 4th, 2012

Please read the following reminder from the Commish and Administration regarding player eligibility, technical fouls, and attendance.

    Player Eligibility
No player shall be permitted to play if they are currently involved in a
winter sport. This includes the following sports: Basketball, Track,
Wrestling, Swimming, Ice Hockey. The AAIBLAA does not want to run the risk
of player injury, and thus hurt their team in season.

Any teams in violation of this policy will forfeit any games played with ineligible players. This will serve as their one and only warning. Continued violation of this policy will result in the team's dismissal from the AAIBLAA.

If this policy results in any team not having sufficient players, teams will have 2
options. A team still has the ability to add players, or players could join
other teams. Lastly, if the team folds, and can no longer compete, the team
will be refunded their $25 team fee.

    Technical Fouls
Any player who receives 2 technical fouls in a season, will be ejected from
the league. This includes: Any attempt to dunk (warm-ups or in games),
Foul Language, Excessive Fouls, Destructive of League Equipment, Kicking of
balls. 2 players have already received technical fouls.

    Team Attendance: NEW RULE
Teams are permitted 1 forfeit due to lack of players or failure to show up.
The 2nd time any team forfeits a game due to lack of players of failure to
show, that team will be removed from the league.

Exception: If a team cannot make a game and notifies the Commish in a
timely manner (not the day of), and a replacement team can be found. No
    punishment will be instituted.
